The Rex is a high-rise pant that sits just below the waist, with darts for shaping, slanted flattering pockets, and a straight leg with gathered ankle cuffs.
INCLUSIONS
Each PDF download includes six files: A4, Letter, and AO WITH seam allowances and WITHOUT.
SIZE
A nested pattern, sized 6-26, with and without a 5/8" seam allowance option.
TECHNIQUES
Featuring a high rise that sits just below the natural waist, front and back darts for shaping, angled front pockets, tabbed two-piece waistband, belt loops, and a fly front zipper, along with a modern, wide ankle cuff, straps and buckles.
SUGGESTED FABRICS
Stable wovens such as cotton canvas, twill, denim, gabardine, linen, or corduroy, as well as heavy silks or similar, such as 4 ply
FABRIC REQUIREMENT
Approx. 3 - 3.5 yards, depending on sizing and pattern match.
Approx. 1.5 yards of lightweight iron-on fusible if cuff, straps, waistband, and fly are fused.
NOTIONS
Fusible interfacing, 6-8” zipper, button, thread.
EASE
The Rex has the standard European ease; size up for a looser fit.

Rex is a New Orleans Carnival krewe that stages one of the city's most celebrated parades on Mardi Gras Day. Rex is Latin for 'king', and Rex reigns as "The King of Carnival".
Rex was organized by New Orleans businessmen in part to put on a spectacle in honour of the New Orleans visit of Grand Duke Alexei Alexandrovich of Russia (remembered locally as "Grand Duke Alexis") during the 1872 Carnival season. Also in the minds of the founders of Rex was the desire to lure tourism and business to New Orleans in the years after the American Civil War.
Rex assembles floats using techniques that have spanned generations, entirely by hand. Contrary to popular belief, Rex floats are not built over Civil War-era cotton wagons; they are instead built on wagons formerly employed by the City of New Orleans to collect refuse in the late 19th century.
